Dr. Renier van Aardt
For over 25 years, Dr. Renier van Aardt has been a pioneer in Aesthetic Medicine and has focused on cosmetic dermatology and anti-aging treatments transforming lives through expert care. As one of Canada’s first physicians to administer Botox and dermal fillers, he believes in delivering natural results that restore confidence and address concerns holistically. His passion for anti-aging treatments and skin rejuvenation ensures every client feels their best at our facility.
Board-certified in Family Medicine and licensed by the Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and South Africa, Dr. van Aardt is a trusted cosmetic physician. He served as President of the Canadian Association of Aesthetic Medicine (CAAM), contributing nearly 20 years as a board member and earning diplomat status in aesthetic medicine and speaking at conferences internationally.
Born in South Africa, he completed his medical and surgical degrees at the University of Stellenbosch in 1991, gaining extensive experience in surgery, obstetrics, and emergency medicine in volatile regions. In 1993, he and his wife, Carina van Aardt, an aesthetician with expertise in mercantile law and financial accounting, immigrated to Atlantic Canada. His surgical and anesthesiology skills shone as Chief of Staff at Twillingate Hospital, Newfoundland, before relocating to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, to run a busy rural practice and ER shifts.
In 1999, a card in the mail about adding laser skin treatments sparked a new path. Receiving guidance from Dr. Mark Lupin, a brilliant dermatologist and recognized leader in Cosmetic Dermatology, Dr. Van Aardt and Carina invested in laser technology, launching Laser Plus Medi Spa in Yarmouth in 2001, Truro Medi Spa in 2004 and Vitality Medi Spa soon after, by 2010, it became Atlantic Canada’s largest medical spa group, offering an array of services like laser hair removal, skin tightening, and much more. Today, Dr. van Aardt leads a skilled team across locations in Truro, Halifax, Bedford, and Fredericton, sharing expertise through global lectures, workshops, and contributions to Procedures for Primary Care (Elsevier).
